Your Massage Questions Answered...

What Type Of Massage Should I Have?
There are a wide array of massages and techniques that you can choose from. Some of them have specific uses, while other types of massages are used to simply relax the body. The Swedish massage is the most common type that people think of when they hear the word "massage." With this type, the client disrobes and covers their midsection with a towel. The masseuse uses oils and several techniques to help muscles to loosen and relieve stress. With an Oriental massage, on the other hand, the client typically stays fully clothed and acupuncture is often used in the procedure. The masseuse works on major pressure points in order to bring the body into complete balance. You can also choose between a myofacial release massage, a postural massage, or many others.

I'm Not Sure I'm Comfortable With My Body To Get a Professional Massage. What should I do?
Massage therapists are professionals who don't take your body form into consideration when they are giving a massage. In a sense, they are like doctors because massage therapists do not look at their clients' bodies judgmentally. Experienced massage therapists have also seen all kinds of body shapes and sizes, so nothing is new to them. They are not judgmental about your body or anybody else's body. They are taught to look at a massage as a gift that everybody should be able to enjoy without being concerned about what they might look like without their clothes.

What is Proper Massage Etiquette?
Massage therapists are professional service providers that strive to maintain a degree of decorum and professionalism in their office. Unfortunately, situations might arise that can prove to be embarrassing for the client or the masseuse. In cases where this happens, the masseuse is trained to ignore it rather than bringing attention to the uncomfortable situation that would hinder the relaxing atmosphere they are trying to create. In addition, it is good etiquette to be clean when you go to a masseuse. You should always inform them about the areas that need the most amount of work, too. After the massage, it is proper to offer a tip between $10-20 if you are satisfied with what they have done for you.
